The Pittsburgh World Environment Day Partnership wishes to encourage a diverse mix of environmentally conscious and sustainable events, activities and initiatives throughout the region. In order to ensure that all events, activities and initiatives listed on the Pittsburgh WED Partnership website follow a format that includes environmental and sustainable practices, the following guidelines have been developed.

The undersigned, as part of their commitment to the spirit of World Environment Day agrees to:

Advance the positive goals and intents of Pittsburgh WED.
Include the use of the Pittsburgh WED logo (available on this website) in all printed and electronic materials distributed in association with WED events.
Include a focus or connection to sustainability issues with a specific focus on "Water Matters!". (i.e. Water Matters to: biodiversity, energy, economy, public health, etc.)
Explore available options to climate neutralize the event by carbon offsetting the carbon footprint associated with holding the event.
Regardless of where the event is held around the region, meet or exceed the model City of Pittsburgh Special Events Recycling Guidelines that require, at minimum, the recycling of beverage containers (glass, plastic, aluminum and steel) and corrugated cardboard.
Review and comply with, wherever possible, the certification guidelines for special events established by Zero Waste Pittsburgh.
Provide a rewarding and inclusive experience for all facets of the general public.
Read and seek to observe, where practical, the intents and recommendations found in the United Nations Green Meeting Guide
Submit a brief report (to Pittsburgh WED, via this website, within two weeks of the event's conclusion) documenting details of the experience and achievements in addressing the above guidelines.

As event coordinator, I agree to coordinate this event in compliance with these expectations to the best of my abilities and knowledge. I understand that failure to comply with these expectations will result in this event not being recognized through WED Pittsburgh or its sponsors as an event associated with WED Pittsburgh.

Please allow 5-8 business days for events to appear on the World Environment Day Pittsburgh Calendar of Events.
